Liberia possesses excellent conditions for coastal and
maritime tourism. Among the countryâs current tourism
offerings are surfing and surfing-related activities, particularly in Robertsport; deep sea fishing; Buchanan, etc.
Liberiaâs 560 km of coastline is characterized by a near
unbroken sand strip, unexplored beaches and âworld classâ waves.
The most famous location for surfing activities is Robertsport, roughly three hours away from
Monrovia. Robertsport counts three main surfing points.
The countryâs tropical coast, beaches with warm ocean
temperatures year-round and rich marine resources offer great potential for tourism.
Certain activities such as surfing and fishing in Liberia
are gaining increasing international attention as tourist
attractions. Surfing activities and surf tourism in Liberia are slowly providing the country with a good reputation among the global surf community. Although the first surfers appeared in the country around the 1970s, it was only when the 2006 film Sliding Liberia was released that the country started being considered in the world surfing scene. In the years since, there have been efforts to stimulate surfing in the country, including individual and private-sector-led initiatives. Liberia is the home of Powdery white beaches to complement ecotourism with one of Africaâs great Ocean destinations for Surfing, stand-up paddling (SUP), kitesurfing Sport fishing and other marine sports. Robertsport is the best concentration of lefthanders anywhere in Africa, Waves all year round, Remote and uncrowded surf spots Warm water & easy line-ups.
